The true inventor of the game Monopoly was a woman, despite many who believed otherwise!
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Magie created The Landlord's Game, Monopoly's direct ancestor, while living in Brentwood, Maryland. She first patented the game in 1904, but was not recognized as the game's creator for many years after Charles Darrow and Parker Brothers claimed the ideas as their own.

Framed in the example of Catholic saints and servants of God who provide a witness for us, we are committed to taking meaningful steps in our work for racial justice. Thank you to our Black Student Union for sharing additional resources with our community.
Grant us, Lord God, a vision of your world as your love would have it:
- a world where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor;
- a world where the riches of creation are shared, and everyone can enjoy them;
- a world where different races and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect;
